On the beautiful Rijksstraatweg, with its historic ribbon of buildings full of stories and stately villas – often called the most beautiful street in the Netherlands – Villa de Musschenberg lies in idyllic Beek. In surroundings that breathe history, character and nature.
The moment you arrive, you feel it: here you truly come to rest. The villa borders directly on the forest, with a path beside the house that leads you straight into nature. Ideal for a morning walk, a breath of fresh air or a relaxed bike ride through the rolling landscape of the Heerlijkheid Beek.
Our villa sits on a generous plot of more than 10,000 m², against the ridge. In the back garden an oasis of calm awaits, where you are regularly surprised by curious deer quietly appearing along the edge of the forest, sometimes even on the lawn. Here you experience nature up close.
Whether you come to relax or to be active: there is plenty of space. The large lawn with two goals invites play and movement, while the sunny terrace is perfect for enjoying long, relaxed days. In summer you dine atmospherically in the shade of the grapevines, and in the evening the veranda at the front is the perfect spot to linger in the warm evening sun.
Despite the peace and privacy, everything is within reach. The cosy village centre of Beek is within walking distance, with a bakery, butcher and supermarket for daily groceries. And want to head out? Vibrant Nijmegen, the oldest city in the Netherlands, is just a fifteen-minute drive away and also excellently accessible by public transport. The bus stop is within walking distance.

Inside the villa there is a fully and luxuriously equipped two-person apartment with its own entrance. The apartment has a comfortable living area, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom, and can be booked separately or in combination with the villa. Thanks to its own entrance and separate location, you enjoy complete privacy, even when the villa is being used by other guests at the same time. Ideal for couples or guests who want to enjoy peace and independence in beautiful surroundings.
Up to 14 people
For the ultimate stay, you naturally book Villa de Musschenberg. Make use of all the facilities the villa has to offer, including the spacious garden around the villa, set on a plot of more than 10,000 m², several terraces, an atmospheric veranda and a large lawn with plenty of room to relax or be active. Enjoy the spacious kitchen-diner, the cosy living room and the characteristic former dining and dance hall with bar, pool table and dartboard.
The villa has 14 beds, spread across comfortable bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The ideal location for a relaxed stay with family, friends or colleagues, surrounded by nature on the Beek ridge. If you would like to stay with a larger group, the fully equipped two-person apartment can be added as an option.
History
De Musschenberg has a rich history. The name 'Inn De Musschenberg' already appears in the 18th century. Part of present-day Beek, including De Musschenberg, belonged to Germany until 1949.
In the 19th century the Maas family became the owners and it remained in the family for 160 years. Originally De Musschenberg was an agricultural business, with stables and fields, but it also served as an inn where travellers rested and met one another. This warm, hospitable place soon grew into a well-known hotel-restaurant where people not only stayed, but also enjoyed the conviviality and the good food.
After the war, the Dutch government annexed some German areas as compensation for the war damage suffered. The border at Beek was moved one kilometre to the east, so that the touristically attractive parts, including De Musschenberg, came to the Netherlands. The building was severely damaged, but the Maas family did not give up. With much love and effort it was restored and for years remained the familiar hotel-restaurant that many still remember.
In 2017 the building was sold and De Musschenberg closed its doors for a thorough renovation. The goal? To preserve the historic charm while modernising the building and enriching it with today's luxury. The result is a stylish holiday villa that breathes the cosy, homely atmosphere of old – but with all the comfort and luxury you could wish for.
